Today it is 12,5 years ago that the first webcast took place in the Netherlands. The initiative was taken by Stef van der Ziel. The webcast was broadcasted from the cultural centre Simplon in Groningen on November 4, 1994. The audience consisted of four viewers, who followed the webcast on their PC; two people related to the project stayed home to view the broadcast and the other two were two unknown people following the concert in Amsterdam. It was a webcast without sound; the technology facilitated only one frame per second. An anniversary party with a HD transmission has been planned with a larger audience.
A page from the historic transmission.
